Orange Wave End Of Year #jacketslearn

Good Morning,

As we close out the 2014/2015 school year, We’d like to take an opportunity to say thank you and share some end of the year procedures/information:

Thank you to everyone who has helped make this year a huge success for the Rockwall Band Program.  I appreciate all of the patience and support so many of you have shown through this transition year.  We have made great strides this year and are looking forward to continuing that into the next school year.

Here is some important information for everyone as we finish out the last couple of weeks:

1)  All school-owned instruments need to be turned in on Tuesday, May 26th.  Students please make sure you clean out your instrument cases before turning in your instrument/s on Tuesday.

2)  All uniforms need to be cleaned and turned in next Friday, May 29th.  Your marching band uniform and concert uniform need to be dry-cleaned and returned with the cleaner’s receipt!

3)  Monday, June 1st is our instrument check-out day.  Anyone who is needing to check-out an instrument for the summer and next school year, must do so on this day.  Check-out will be in the band hall between the hours of 4pm and 6:30PM.

4)  On June 2nd and 4th, we will have our mini marching clinics with our incoming 8th graders.  All new leadership is required to attend these two camps.  Those camps will be after school from 4:30pm to 6:30pm.

5)  Parent meeting on June 3rd in the RHS cafeteria.  This meeting is for all incoming 8th grader parents, and all of our current freshmen, sophomore, and junior parents.  We will cover important information regarding next year.  You will also place your orders for our new marching gear for the next season.  Please make sure at least one parent is in attendance.

6)  Drumline Camp is June 8th through the 11th at RHS

7)  Students, we would highly encourage you to please continue with your private lessons through the summer break.  The band hall will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays for all lessons to take place.  We understand many of you will be traveling and have busy summers, however, if you are able to schedule lessons through the summer when you know you are available, please do so.

Please let us know if you have any questions…we look forward to band banquet this evening!

Thanks – JFND!

Varsity Success

Your RHS Varsity Band earned 1st division ratings and a trophy at the Rockwall Music Fest today! Congratulations for a job well done!

Special thanks to the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band members who helped us with our first award winning performance. We couldn’t have done it without you.

RHS Bands Make History!

Good Morning,
Over the last three days, our concert bands have performed and competed in the Region 3 UIL Concert & Sightreading Contest at Richardson High School.  We are very proud and excited to share that all three RHS Bands earned superior ratings from the judging panel, earning the coveted Sweepstakes Award.  This is the first time in the history of the band program that all 3 bands have earned the Sweepstakes Award.
Last week the Wind Ensemble performed at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center and placed 3rd overall. Natalie Pang and Nick Messick received a certificate for outstanding soloist, and Nick Messick received a trophy for outstanding percussion soloist overall!
